Need info about shipping/delivery

How flexible is the platform for designing complex product delivery/shipping logic?
How is the estimated delivery time and delivery cost calculated?

Thanks

Hi @lstypka

Emporix offers a multi-level rule engine for shipping options and has experience with similarly complex shipping channels, slots, locations, etc. For example, to provide the capabilities that some of our grocery customers require, we offer the ability to define the following delivery options:

  • Shipping zones: These might be a country, a city, or a collection of postal codes.
  • Shipping method: This will be applied to one or more delivery zones and could be a particular delivery window, a specified date and time, or instant delivery.
  • Delivery times: Different delivery options may be needed for certain days or times of the week, and these are specified within Emporix. For example, immediate delivery may only be offered between 06:00 and 22:00.
  • Delivery prices: Calculate delivery prices based on the size of the delivery time window.

These aspects can be combined to create a sophisticated matrix/rule engine that estimates customer shipping and delivery time options.

Emporix supports fine-grained control over shipping costs based on shipping methods (such as with shipping carriers like FedEx, DHL, UPS, Bespoke, etc.) and zones. Rules such as ‘shipping cost is 0€ for orders above 50€ with delivery in the Salzburg zone’ can easily be configured in the Emporix management dashboard.
